Please help me balance fence-sitting with an age difference (28F, 26M)

I (28F) have been seeing a guy (26M) for three months (about 2x/week) and it has been going well. He treats me well in every way that matters to me and I like him enough to keep advancing things, but he says he is not ready to “commit yet.” We are exclusive and he is very consistent with time and attention, have met many of each other’s friends, some family. He often says the age difference doesn’t bother him, but then said yesterday that he doesn’t want kids for at least four years, after pointing out where I will be in my career at 32. Though it is still very early, he is one of the only guys I have been able to actually picture myself starting a family with based on our shared values and support of me always wanting to work. I think I could be happy with or without children, so ironically, my anxiety around my biological clock is directly related to knowing he does want kids at some point and worry that our life stages are simply a bit misaligned (though not impossibly). He wants to keep seeing how things develop, but I’m worried my feelings for him will only become stronger and that as I let time pass, I am limiting my options around starting a family, no matter how old my partner is. I want to give him the time he needs, am enjoying his company immensely, and it feels premature to end things but I am having a hard time letting myself continue to get excited about him when he isn’t sure about our long term fit and I have this impulse to protect myself and call it a loss if he isn’t fully in it. Appreciate any thoughts on how long to give it, similar experiences, etc. Thanks in advance
