First time asking someone out—should I go for it?

Hey Reddit,

I (20M) have been getting to know this girl (19F) for about a month. We’ve hung out three times, and our conversations—both in person and over text—have been really enjoyable. I’ve been taking things slow because I’ve never asked anyone out before, and I wanted to get to know her as a person before making a move.

She even suggested a trip to the aquarium, which we planned a week in advance. But after Thanksgiving, things started to feel a little different. We didn’t text much during the holiday week (understandable), but since then, her responses have been slower. She also told me she hurt her ankle and had to go to an appointment, which caused us to cancel the aquarium trip.

We’re still planning to study together in two days, so we’ll see each other soon. I had made a little gift—a “message in a bottle” asking if she’d like to date with a little Pokémon pin—but now I’m second-guessing myself.

I still have a crush on her, but I’m confused about her intentions. Am I reading too much into the slower communication? Should I still give her the gift or hold off?

Thanks for any advice you can give!
