Just wanting to vent a little, I guess. Last month, I (29M) met this girl (25F) at a bar I often go to for karaoke with friends. She lives an hour and a half away from me, but was in town with a friend for the headliner concert at the local music festival. The two of them joined my friends at a booth, we all sang together, good times were had. Towards the end, she told me that they were supposed to go to the next night's headliner, but the friend had to drop out to take care of her sick dog. She asked me if I wanted to take the free ticket and go with her. It was a country concert. I don't know a damn thing about country, but of course I was going to go! I was stoked. She was honest-to-God beautiful. What threw me off though, was that she referred to me as her "new friend" and talked about us "hanging out".
We met the next night, enjoyed the show, took pictures, etc. We went to a bar for a couple hours afterward. There were a couple lulls in conversation, partly because I got in my own head wondering what direction to take the conversation, how flirty I should be with her, etc. I felt like I was being overly cautious in talking with her. She said she would like to see me again when she's next in the area, though it would be a little while. She asked for one more selfie together before her ride showed up, and shared a goodbye hug.
We've kept texting since then. I suggested meeting up to do something in her area. She said "Maybe, I've been really busy lately". I can believe that she is, due to her job and other activities she has going on, but this still feels like a soft rejection. Maybe she only ever wanted to be friends, but I have a hard time reconciling that with giving a free concert ticket to a guy she just met at a bar. Not gonna lie, if I did blow an opportunity here, I'm gonna be kicking myself over it for a while. I guess if there's a lesson to be had for anyone reading this, it's don't be overly passive like me. Seize those opportunities when you find them.
