Should I (27F) drive an hour for a first date just because he (30) lives in an area with bougie restaurants?

TD;LR: Really just the question above but I'm hesitant because we essentially only text once a week to try and make plans (which one of us has been busy/away for each of the past few weekends)

My area is very suburban and everything is okay chain food. He lives in a more bougie area and there's lots of good places to eat there, but it's on the opposite side of the county. He suggested next Friday after work meaning it'll take at least an hour for me to get there, but it would take him twice that long to drive out to me because of traffic. I would prefer to meet in the middle but the city between us doesn't really have great date places either (basically just mall restaurants). So yeah, I get his argument but it doesn't seem fair?

Especially since we've both been traveling or busy so I usually just get a message once a week asking if I'm around/free that weekend. So far I haven't, but now I am and the ask for me to go all the way out there seems like a lot?
