Why do people get so uppity when others state their dating preferences in online dating?

Like for example, you constantly get men complaining about women stating in their profiles that they only date men who are over 6ft, or when they start chatting the woman asks them their height.

I'm a guy btw, and I'm tall, so maybe it's easy for me to say this but if the person you are chatting to has a specific idea in their minds of who they want to date this is information you should want to know straight off the bat. Like for example, some women (and this doesn't happen very often) occasionally state that they only date dark skinned guys, or white guys, or black guys. It's great to know things like this, it means you don't need to waste another second on them and you can move straight on. Or maybe they'll state they only like guys who are ripped - I'm not ripped, but that's cool, I can move straight on.

I don't what the equivalent is on men's profiles, as I don't see them, but surely we'd all save a bit of time if we were a bit more open, even if some of our wants might seem a bit superficial or shallow, I mean god forbid you state your dating preferences on an online dating site.
