Why I think the advice "Never get back with your ex" is inherently flawed

I've noticed a trend of advice on here about people getting back with their exes. I understand the concept of "if you broke up then it was for a reason." but I think it's pretty bad advice for 90% of the questions I see on here. If you have a good relationship but one party breaks it off then 6 months or 2 years later they come back and want to try again I think that's completely fair. 6 months is plenty of time for a person to change. I don't think this is an anomaly because I see a lot of people change drastically over the months following a break up. I've seen several great relationships end only for both parties to work on themselves and come back stronger. I think it's silly to cross off a great relationship because of pride. People change, life goes on, it's hard to meet someone that you want to spend your life with and if you already found them why keep looking?
