After almost five years out of the dating game due to personal issues, I recently started online dating again and am finding it incredibly demoralising. I quit Tinder and Bumble after months of no matches in favour of Reddit personals, where I hoped to have more success. And I have done... Sort of.
Maybe around 60% of the time I reply to a personal, I'll get a pleasant message back from the poster: 'your message was a pleasant surprise from all the dick pics etc.' that sort of thing. Then we'll talk and usually we'll hit it off, but eventually the time comes when they ask me to send a picture and so far (on about 30 occasions) the result has been the same every time: 'Sorry, you're not my type'.
Now, I should make clear: I don't resent the women for doing this, they're attracted to who they're attracted to. But it is really doing a number on my self esteem and I am starting to wonder whether I may be seriously ugly? I don't have a six pack, but I'm not fat. I'm visibly losing my hair, which is admittedly quite rare at my age (I'm 25), but I'm not Quasimodo... Am I?
Does anyone have any advice for my situation? I've attached pics below. Is my appearance is an issue? It's a bleak thought, but it has crossed my mind that I might just not be good-looking enough to have success dating online...
