People who have ghosted someone you were dating / hanging out with, what was your reason of doing so?

It seems ghosting happens a lot in modern dating. As a girl, who had been ghosted by someone before, I always believe it’s an act of cowardness. Is that true?

EDIT: I think some of us here have a different understanding of the word ghosting. But The question I’m asking here is for those who disappeared without an explanation or even hints at all. So not responding to people you had already rejected verbally doesn’t count as ghosting here.
