Too awkward to meet people from dating sites?

As the title says I always feel really awkward or weird actually meeting people

In general I’m an introvert and it takes me a while to open up to people, but does anyone have tips for making stuff less awkward? Even when I really like someone I find myself making up excuses to not meet them :/
