So for a little background: At my job there is this woman (I think early to mid 20’s) who works as a medical secretary at the front desk. She has been working here since 5 months ago. I am a medical student doing an year long internship in surgery as a researcher/assistant to this big shot surgeon. The last year or so I been working my ass off in this internship so that I can get into the best program to get the best surgical training. So because of this I didn’t even notice this woman worked here until about a month and a half ago! I mention that to demonstrate that in the first few months I didn’t really pay her any mind because I didn’t know she existed
Anyways, fast forward to around beginning of March, and I finally notice her, and notice that she is extremely attractive. Interesting, but at this point she still really didn’t occupy much of my headspace since I was so concerned with work. As the ensuing days and weeks go by, I notice that she becomes exceedingly friendly/flirty with each ‘cordial’ interaction between us. Now, i’ve had alot of experience flirting with women to know when a woman is flirting with me, and it soon became obvious that she was overtly flirting with me during our interactions nearly everyday.
One day my boss ordered pizza for the staff, and as I walked past the front desk I told her “theres pizza back there, you should come grab some” and she said “ok!” But never did… she was working at the front desk checking patients in so I guess she didnt have the time.. anyways I jokingly said the next day “you stood me up yesterday” *tongue-in-cheek* and she laughed and said “omg I know, it won’t happen again ;)” in that flirty kind of tone… and I was like ok interesting.
Then a few weeks later my boss ordered Chinese food and she told me that the food was back in my office after it had arrived… and I asked her if she wanted some food? And she said no thanks because she doesn’t eat Chinese .. and this is where I jokingly said again ‘wowww you declined two of my food invites’ and she was like welllll If you offered me pasta I wouldn’t refuse ;). And I said haha ok.
Fast forward to a few days later, I see her after hours in the hallway (my boss said she looked like she was wandering around aimlessly looking for me it seemed) and when I run into her she basically tells me, that the “next time I offer her food she will definitely say yes” saying this in an extremely flirty tone as usual.
So the next day after a long day in the operating room, I return to the office and see her at the front desk and have about a 5 min convo discussing each of our days. I then say “so when are we gonna grab some food?” And she says “whenever you want”.. so I respond with “Ok, lets go tommorow” and she says “sure!”. Then I ask for her number and she gives it to me and I text her afterwards my name and “mañana!” And she texts back “mañana it is!”…. Next day I see her in the morning and everything is normal as usual… she maybe appeared slightly strange… but nothing major… then I text her around lunchtime saying “Did you each lunch yet?” And then just….. radio silence….
After that month and a half long build up, where she appeared to be clearlyyyy into me, to the point where other people where pointing this out to me… I finally ask her to eat, and she just doesn’t respond to my text??
I’m just kinda pissed, not because she’s not interested or whatever, but because the reason for why this happened doesn’t make sense to me? I just dont know what went wrong or what the explanation for this is??
