Choosing the right person

Do you remember that girl that you passed over because you thought “I can do better”? She had love in her eyes, she worshipped the ground you walked on, you could feel that she would be there for you. You know she would do anything for you and be happy to do it. But you thought “I can do better,” you thought you could find someone more attractive, more desirable, the “real thing.”

Do you remember thinking you found the “real thing,” and how she broke your heart? Do you remember all the tears, the unanswered phone calls and text, how she went cold? Do you remember how you saw her with her new partner, how much it hurt? You didn’t think she would ever do this to you, she was supposed to be your real thing, your soul mate, the one you dreamed of. But then she went away.

Maybe it didn’t end in breakup, and she stuck around. But you ended up in a roommate relationship. She lost attraction for you and the sex went away. She didn’t keep your happiness in mind. She belittles your interests, she doesn’t like your friends. The money you bring home, the work you do around the house, the love you show her, it’s just never enough. Why did this all happen? This is supposed to be the real thing.

That one you passed over is wondering why you didn’t pick her. She would have stayed, she never would have broken your heart. She would have had your happiness in mind, and wouldn’t have ever went cold. She only would have eyes for you, and never would have left you for anyone else. She would have encouraged you to work less and relax more, she would have pushed you to see your friends and have fun. But you thought you could do better.

I’m writing this post to encourage you to pick the right person when you’re out their in the dating world. At some point, you have to make a logical decision over an emotional one. You have to pick the person who’s going to be an investment in your future, someone who’s going to care about your happiness. Make the right decision.
