Is it possible she (F22) would say yes to a date after being friends for over a year already?

I (M23) met this girl (F22) over a year ago at uni through mutual friends and feel like there is something there but only sometimes..

Like she is always really nice, she compliments my clothes, we make eye contact and smile alot, we always have a good laugh and recently (weirdly) she has been offering her seat when there is none and sits on the floor when we hang out. Last new years she even told me she was really glad she met me.

But on the other hand it sometimes feels weird like she is trying to avoid me cos its hard to get her 1 on 1 cos she always sticks with the group, like i tried to ask her out before but the moment got ruined and she was busy texting her friend so I dropped it without actually asking. Also she doesn't say hi or bye to me unless I initiate alot, even if the whole group is saying bye to each other, which is fine but just seems strange.

A new chemistry themed bar opened up that i think she would really like and I was thinking of asking her out on a date to it, but what do you guys think? Do girls ever seem to fall for their friends or would it be more obvious if she was interested? Might also be worth adding that she is quite a bit more attractive than me, but we have loads in common and get on very well.
