Is it over?

I've been talking to a girl for a few weeks who I've known personally for a while. We've been on a few dates and things have always hit off pretty good and started taking it to more serious conversations. She came over last night and we hung out and I thought we had a good time, she mentioned how she is going to delete hinge and focus on me. She left last night after around 4 hours of hanging out and said she was tired and we should hang out today. We made out for a bit and I walked her to her car and that was that. This morning, I get a text that says:

"Hey so I'm gonna be honest with you, I like spending time with you and I do really like you, but I am still dealing with my ex and I don't think it's fair to you cause I'm not totally over that situation yet. I still wanna see you and spend time but I see myself getting caught up in moments with you and then saying I want more than what I'm ready for.."

She told me earlier she broke up with her ex a year ago, but he still tries to call and leave voicemails and gifts out her house. He used to beat her up, broke her shoulder and was a real piece of shit.

I'm just caught off with the message because, why are you on dating apps and why didn't you mention this earlier? Not sure if it' s cop out or if it's sincere and if she wants to keep this going but more slow or if she means we should stop talking. Any advice is appreciated.
