How do people have the courage to go on dates with strangers?

I (25F) have never been on a date, mostly due to a lack of interest from decent people, but also due to the fact that I'm just too scared to. And having social anxiety doesn't help. I never wanted to go down the dating app route in the first place, but given the current situation I don't really have any other choice. I want to go on a date so that I can stop feeling like such a loser for having no dating experience at this age, but my fears are holding me back.

The thing is, the prospect of going on a first date with someone you already know (or at least have already met) is terrifying enough, but with a stranger? It just sounds like the most awkward and uncomfortable thing ever. I couldn't do it even if I wanted to. I'd be terrified of them not being attracted to me in real life, not having enough to talk about, awkward silences, them getting too handsy, them trying to kiss me without my consent, being catfished, or (and obviously this is a worst scenario, but it could happen) them being some kind of psychopath.

Alcohol usually helps with my social anxiety in social situations, but I don't even think an entire 13% alcohol bottle of wine could alleviate it enough to be able to go on a date, lmao. Yet people manage to go on dating app dates all the time, and for most of them it's not even a big deal. HOW? Please share any tips you have. Thank you! :)
