I'm a 28 y/o guy who suffers from anxiety. Every decision in my life must be thought out extensively. Outside my everyday routine, I think about what I'm going to say (usually word by word) and try really hard to predict the outcomes. I go as far as to try to figure it out what other people will say and what my reply is going to be. It's insane! This holds me back both on my social and professional lives. Stepping out of my comfort zone is torture and that includes, dating. But at least I recognize this isn't normal so every oportunity I get, I try to push myself a little harder. And lately, while dealing with a potential date opportunity, I learned a new and simple trick: to "turn off" my brain for a moment. Whatever I wanna do or say, I clear my mind of anything else and do it. I may panic a little bit after and think "why the hell did I do that? What was I thinking?" Nothing. I was thinking nothing and that's the secret. It may not be easy, but it worths a try. You may thank yourself later.
