22(M) here, from the UK. Recently, a friend of mine was talking about the way they saw instagram almost like a dating app. As someone who never really posts much (i have 2 ig posts which are 4 years old, facebook not much better) it got me thinking about how much importance people tend to give to it.
I've personally never given posting online much importance, but having now moved away from university and its busy social life, i'm starting to consider dating online as an option for meeting new people.
So, how important is a good presence online? Does it make you more dateable or attractive to some if you have well-updated social media? Is it even relevant?
On the flip side, does not posting and having a small following make you 'weird' or make people write you off as an option?
