I’ve been getting into the dating app scene lately, after not dating at all for a long time. I’m not a particularly engaging person and socializing doesn’t really come naturally to me (hence coming to reddit for help lol), but I consider myself fairly normal with average looks.
I’ve been on a few dates and they never go anywhere. We do whatever (walks, maybe dinner or drinks or something) and we talk about what we do and where we’re from and all that, and then we maybe hug goodbye and say we’ll see each other later. I don’t like moving fast so I never really go for a kiss (especially not in the age of covid) and I’m definitely not after hookups. After that the conversation dies out, there’s no connection and no second dates.
I get that not everyone has a spark with everyone, but I can’t help feel that I’m just awkward/tame at dating. Small talk just doesn’t work. What’s the right balance of conversation? Any advice would be appreciated.
