Pretty much every girl I've ever talked too is happy to receive them. But this girl im talking too it's like constantly walking on thin ice because she doesn't like compliments, she says she perceives them as someone always wanting something in return. Which isn't the case for me, I genuinely like making people happy male or female.
For example, "I love your eyes", silence. "You look amazing tonight" and she'll say please don't say that to me. "Blue matches your hair really well" she'll say she was born with her hair so what does it matter.
Is it even worth continuing? All I can think of are things I can compliment that she has control over/puts effort into.
Like
"You're really good at curling your hair"
"You are very talented at picking out outfits, you have an intelligent fashion sense"
If these type of comments don't work I'm out of ideas...
