I was having dinner with a couple of friends the other day, and the topic drifted to love life. I was asked whether I'm using dating apps or going on dates, and I have not been dating for a while now. In an attempt to be funny, I said all I have is a linkedin crush. Which is true, there is this guy I see on my page from time to time who I think looks cute in his profile picture. But I've always just thought of this as kind of a gag, I never actually tried to connect with him on linkedin or ask him out or anything.
Then one of my friend asks where he works, and said she knows someone who quit from that company and can ask her about him. I honestly didn't think too much about it and didn't expect this to go anywhere.
Two days later, my friend suddenly tells me that her friend gave him my number, and he texts me. The thing is, based on his text I'm not sure he understand what lead to this. He just texted me something like"xxx told me you would like to grab coffee. Is that still true?" Tbh I never expected this to go this far, how do I possibly explain that I stalked him on linkedin and that's what led to this? He may think I am asking for a networking thing? At this point should I just accept that I am a creep and confess I've been stalking him on linkedin?
