I realised dating apps were destroying my confidence more than any rejection ever did

For about two years I told myself the apps just weren't working for me yet. Just needed better photos. Better bio. Better opening line.

Then I found out the average man swipes right on 100 women to get one match.

One.

And I'd been sitting there every day collecting that rejection, over and over, telling myself it was normal. That I just needed to try harder. Meanwhile my confidence was quietly being eaten alive and I didn't even notice because it happened so gradually.

The day I deleted everything I felt stupid for how relieved I was.

Within two weeks I was talking to people again. Not with a strategy. Not with a line. Just... normally. Like I used to before I handed my self worth over to an algorithm.

The first time I approached a woman in a coffee shop and she smiled and we had a genuine five minute conversation — nothing came of it, she was with someone — I walked away feeling better than any match had ever made me feel.

Because it was real. It counted. It was mine.

If your confidence is low right now, genuinely ask yourself how much of it is the apps grinding you down daily versus an actual reflection of who you are.

Anyone else noticed this? Would love to hear other people's experience.
