I (29M) usually am pretty professional at work and do not mix work and dating. But I've been out of a relationship for several months now and against my better judgment, I asked a coworker today to lunch sometime. Basically, while I was working, we made small talk, and as I was about to leave, I (out of sight of others) passed her a slip of paper with my name and number on it and I said, "...by the way, if you want to grab lunch, just let me know." She (30F, same level at company) took the paper and said, "I'll be sure to let you know." I was probably very shy and somewhat awkward about it; I'm naturally very introverted.
We don't talk often, but we've known of each other for over a year or two and she used to work in my department. We rarely work together/see each other now, but each time we do, she always calls me by name and is happy/engaged to see me and asks questions. Which I thought was odd, because she is normally pretty shy.
Of course, I would never push the issue, should she not get back to me. I know now I don't want to risk anything professionally doing this again. Moment of stupidity, I guess you could say.
So, if you were my coworker, how would you feel? Am I being needlessly anxious? General advice appreciated.
