I (30F) went on a first date with a guy (34M) from hinge. It’s surprisingly went very well. I’ve been casually dating for a while now and this is the first time I’m feeling like I had a genuine connection and attraction to some one. Since I’ve met him I’ve been very cheery and hopeful.
Until yesterday…
I decided to Google his name and found out he almost had a domestic violence charge back in 2018. The reason why it was never charged was because he is a marine and with the domestic violence charges they take away your guns, so the judge ruled it unconstitutional because he would lose his job. To me, this does not make sense but my mom does work at a law firm so she understands how to read these kinds of files and I do trust her. I also am part of the are we dating the same guy Facebook page for my local area and I searched his name and he came up as a liar cheater etc etc. I take those pages with a grain of salt however, there were very recent people commenting on it, saying that he was talking to them which I guess comes with the territory of online dating but still……
This along with the DV completely shattered me. I asked my mom if I should get his side of the story about it and she was adamant that no I should not, and just block him. All day I was trying not to talk to him however, I really do like our good conversations which I feel like I haven’t had in a while.
I’m just trying to get a public opinion because I don’t wanna make a decision that could lead to me losing my life but I also do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
