How do people seem to easily ghost someone they’ve been dating without feeling a bit torn up inside?

I recently had a few dates with someone, I thought they went well, we laughed and kissed on the latest one, but then they didn’t respond to my next message and the next time I checked they had blocked me on Instagram and Snapchat.

I understand there are any number of reasons why they might have done this but I’m more confused with how the hell people can just cut someone out like this so easily - to me it would feel like an unfinished business - I would at least want to send them a last message briefly explaining how I don’t think there’s much chemistry or anything rather than just ghosting then blocking them.

To me that feels like just walking away from someone mid conversation.

I understand it may be easier at the time but I personally get left with an uneasy feeling on the few instances that I ghosted someone - certainly not someone I’ve had dates with.

Am I being petty or are they?
