This is a bit of long story so I'll try to explain as best I can!
I (28m) am looking for some advice or pointers on how I should approach this. The girl (27f) in question is an old friend of an old friend. We were part of the same social circle a couple years back, spoke on occasion but not much more than that. I had always found her attractive, funny, and interesting but back then I never had the confidence to act on it.
That social circle ended up drifting apart and we went separate ways. Fast forward a few years and I've had one fairly long-term, serious relationship. I'm a bit more confident and a bit happier with myself in general except when it comes to starting conversations online! I'm not a 'social media' person and even this has taken me hours to write, it's terrifying!
I've been single about a year now , have dabbled in online dating recently (it was not a great experience), and found out this girl has recently moved back to this area and has been single a few months. I'm keen to reconnect with her and see what happens. I reckon it has been 4ish years since we last spoke if that makes a difference.
And the final spanner in the works is, I'm now fairly good friends with her brother (I had no idea they were related until quite recently). I'm aware this whole situation probably appears ridiculous but thought I'd ask anyway. Do I just write a message and go for it? Do I tell my friend (her brother) what I think? Any other thoughts?
