I’ve been using Bumble, Hinge, and Tinder for a few months looking for a relationship, and have hit an impasse with them.
<About me> I am 27F / never married or have kids / full-time job / masters degree in my profession / active and fit (5’8” 140lbs) / I like taking care of myself for good hygiene & healthy beauty / hobbies are half in exercising and outdoors sports + half in crafts, reading, etc / drink socially, don’t smoke cig or weed / support all social equality & equity as a civil but not a political enthusiast (I would educate myself, vote, and sign petitions but would never engage in heated arguments/physical protests/etc)
<Mirrored things that I consider before swiping right> • Shouldn’t say they’re looking for FWB, hookups, etc • Age 25-30 (sometimes upto 32 ish) • Never married or have kids • Full-time job (being a student is fine, something equivalent like well-established freelance or own business is fine; just no bs covering up no job) • College or equivalent degree • Decently active and fit (Not obese or underweight, can enjoy hiking or going to parks together, can try new sports together, etc) • Good hygiene & self-maintenance seen in pics (no greasy bushy messy hair and/or beard; clean hairstyle and clothes) • No cig or weed smoker • No extreme political expressions on their profile such as flaunting confederate flags, guns, aggressive political slogans, etc.
Are these unrealistic standards? - I honestly thought that these weren’t too much. I didn’t think it would be this hard in the ages of 20s. I swipe right on a handful of guys on each app, have been lucky enough to go on dates with those few, but gotta expand my pool in order to up the chance of finding the one (just statistically speaking).
Could it be some sort of cultural difference? - I relocated to midwest last year and lived in SoCal and Manhattan all my life beforehand.
I just got frustrated recently and wanted to freely ask & discuss...Thanks in advance.
