Howdy! I’ve been dating around pretty recently with the intention of meeting someone who might be long-term.
When I went on this specific first date a few years ago, I offered to pay for myself and the guy mentioned that it made him feel respected, like I wasn’t just there for his money. It didn’t end up working out for unrelated reasons, but I did indeed continue doing this to stay respectful.
Recently, I went out with a guy and paid for myself. At the end of the night said he didn’t feel a spark because I didn’t accept the gift.
I honestly feel uncomfortable letting a guy pay. I’d really love to make a guy feel appreciated, and I can’t really complain about free food. But how do I get more comfortable allowing this to happen without feeling like I’m taking advantage of him?
