People who are very private, how do you deal with apps?

I generally don’t trust quickly and am very private even about moderately personal things. I don’t have social media and don’t like putting pictures of myself online. I don’t even really want to put personal hobbies and things in a bio, I do it since it's required of course but very reluctantly. I’m not paranoid, I just don’t jump feet first into relationships with strangers - I’m quite fun and warm once you get to know me but it takes a few weeks or months. If I’m forced to open up too quickly, it causes me a physical stress response. I’m basically like a baby deer that needs to be approached slowly or else I will bolt off. (Yes, there are some shitty childhood experiences behind all this.)

Let’s assume I can’t change how I am (I’ve tried many things, therapy and so on, and nothing has worked to make this easier). But I still want to meet someone and in covid I feel I have no choice but to use dating apps. Does anyone have advice for how to do it while not forcing myself to basically cross my own boundaries? Or do you just have to be a very open sort of person to be ok with this?
